BCB to finalize Pakistan tour based on government's approval

BCB PAK series

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has said that it will totally trust the government's final approval before embarking on a tour to Pakistan later this month. Bangladesh was scheduled to play five T20Is from May 25 to June 3. Still, with the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 schedule revised following escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the PSL final will now be played on May 25, the day of the start of the first T20I.

According to an ESPNCricinfo report, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sent a new schedule for the planned five-match T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh. The first T20I is now set to be played on May 27, and the last T20I match is on June 5.

"Once we receive official communication about the dates and venues [of the tour], we will forward it to the government," BCB's media committee chairman, Iftekhar Rahman said. "The BCB is not the decision-maker in this matter. If the government agencies and our embassy declare Pakistan safe for travel, only then will we proceed.
"In our previous meeting, we agreed that any such situation would be referred to the foreign and home ministries. Once we get clearance from all relevant bodies, we will finalize the tour.

BCB board has full confidence in Pakistan's security agreements

Notably, it has been over 10 years since international bilateral matches have been played in Pakistan. Zimbabwe was the first team to travel to the Asian country in 2015 after all ten Test-playing nations refused to travel after a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team. Pakistan also hosted an ICC event for the first time in 29 years—the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, the recent war-like situation between India and Pakistan has again brought the spotlight on the security in Pakistan.

The BCB board is optimistic that Pakistan will provide top-flight security to their players during the five-match T20 series.

"Security concerns were more significant in the past, but Pakistan has proven it can ensure safety. Still, given the current circumstances, we need to assess whether the situation across the country is stable before sending the team."

Before the series against Pakistan, Bangladesh is also set to play two T20Is against UAE in Sharjah on May 17 & 19.
