India’s premier 50-over domestic competition, the Duleep Trophy, is not being televised. The Indian fans are not being able to see some of the top Indian cricketers who are playing in the tournament

Players like Mohammed Shami, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad, among others, who are not part of India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad, are playing in this tournament to stake their claims of making their international comeback.

However, the tournament is not being televised and has faced a lot of criticism from the fans. The hardcore Indian cricket fans last saw the Indian cricket team play against England and draw the Test series 2-0. Since then, the Asia Cup is the next big tournament that the Indian team will feature in.

In between is the ongoing Duleep Trophy, with as many as four zones participating in the tournament. Several reputed Indian players are playing for their respective zones. Among the key players missing are Shubman Gill and Shruv Jurel, who are down with health and injury reasons.

Fans felt that by not televising the tournament, the BCCI is ignoring the Duleep Trophy 2025, which is India’s premier red-ball tournament alongside the Ranji Trophy. Meanwhile, the BCCI has given a clarification regarding the same and explained the reason why the tournament is not available for Indian fans on television.

"The BCCI has a contract with it's official Broadcaster for a fixed number of Indian Cricket Telecast Days. These have to be managed carefully - only the Duleep Trophy final will be telecast live but this needs to improve from a fans Perspective” said the BCCI as per TOI.
