The Indian think tank is concerned about Rishabh Pant’s finger injury and his recovery status ahead of the fourth Test in Manchester. The Test match starts from July 23 and the southpaw still has some time to recover from his injury.

Rishabh Pant injured his finger while trying to dive and take a catch down the leg side from a Jasprit Bumrah delivery. This happened in the first innings of the Lord’s Test. He needed medical attention and did not keep for the remaining Test match. Dhruv Jurel kept in his place.

With the bat, he scored 74 and nine runs in the two innings. The Indian vice-captain injured his left index finger and looked in a lot of pain and did not keep playing throughout the rest of the Test match.

After the end of the Lord’s Test, skipper Shubman Gill said that Pant should be good to play the fourth Test match. Now, Ryan ten Doeschate has come up with an update on Pant’s injury, saying that the team will give him as much rest as possible ahead of the fourth Test match.

“Keeping is obviously the last part of the process to make sure that he can keep. We don't want to go through that again where we have to replace the keeper halfway through in the innings. But he rested today. We're just trying to give his finger as long as possible and hopefully he's good to go in Manchester in the first training session,” said ten Doeschate in a press conference, on the sidelines of India's practice session at Beckenham.

The Assistant coach said that Dhruv Jurel can come into contention to play the next Test match only if Rishabh Pant is completely ruled out from playing in Manchester. Jural kept well and impressed the commentators and especially Dinesh Karthik, with his glove work in the first innings. In the second innings, he conceded as many as 25 byes.

“He is in the equation. But I mean, obviously, if Rishabh is fit, he plays the next Test and does both,” he added.

He concluded by saying that the team will look to avoid losing wickets in clusters in the next match in Manchester, which is a must-win game for them.

“The repetition of losing lots of wickets in a very short space of time has obviously been the key feature of the two losses. Probably both times in Headingley and obviously overnight and first thing in the morning at Lord's. We feel cost us the game, losing six wickets for 40 again” he added saying.
