MI announce temporary replacements for remainder of the season

Mumbai Indians, who are closing in on playoff qualification, have announced replacements for Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton and Corbin Bosch, who are set to head back for national duty after MI's last league game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Jaipur on May 26.

The franchise has announced Jonny Bairstow, Charith Asalanka and Richard Gleeson as replacements for the trio. Bairstow will replace Jacks, joining the franchise at a base price of 5.25 crores.

Gleeson will replace Ryan Rickelton, joining the franchise for 1 crore, and Charith Asalanka will replace Bosch, joining MI for a base price of 75 lakhs. Previously, there were reports of Bairstow and Asalanka joining the franchise.

Mumbai Indians Confirm Temporary Replacements

MI is yet to confirm their playoff spot, and the replacements will be available only if they qualify for the playoffs. The five-time champions are on 14 points from 12 games and need to win their last two games to qualify for the playoffs. Their match against DC on May 21 will become the decider for both teams.

Will Jacks will be joining the England team for national duties. He is a part of the England white-ball squads for the series against the West Indies. Meanwhile, Rickelton and Bosh are part of South Africa's WTC 2025 final squad.

MI lost their previous match to Gujarat Titans on May 6 before the BCCI postponed the season for a week. After resumption, MI plays against DC in a virtual quarter-final in Mumbai. Playing at home, they would back themselves to win against Delhi Capitals and surge towards the playoffs. Both DC and MI play their final game against PBKS, who are already through to the playoffs.
