The ICC is planning to suspend USA Cricket as it approaches the end of its 12-month notice period that ends on July 2025. The ICC is considering suspending the cricket body over its insignificant leadership.
However, the ICC will rethink their decision if there are major changes to its leadership before the ICC’s Annual Conference in July.
The ICC placed the notice period on USA Cricket on July 2024 when the apex body formed a committee to oversee compliance and reforms within their cricketing structure. Back then, ICC was unhappy with the board’s lack of a “fit for purpose” governance and administrative structure.

USA Cricket Given Ultimatum By ICC
Despite the board given a 12-month notice period to develop necessary infrastructures very slow progress has been made in that direction as admitted by the ICC.
An ICC delegation visited Los Angeles earlier this month for meetings with the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC). They have found out that there are major concerns and disputes within USA cricket which is why the developmental work has turned out to be dysfunctional. An ICC official even termed the situation as 'unsustainable,' despite making repeated attempts to revamp which has resulted in delayed tactics and unresolved disputes.
“We’ve provided ample time and support. The lack of progress is no longer acceptable,” the official added.
“The ICC’s position is clear: effective governance is non-negotiable, especially ahead of cricket’s return to the Olympics at LA 2028,” the official further said.

ICC To Arrive At A Conclusion Soon
It is also said that several employees working with USA Cricket are likely to resign from their respective posts so that they can save themselves from ICC's sanction. If indeed ICC suspends USA Cricket in the near future, it will miss out on global cricket structures, impacting its ability to receive funding, host international matches, or participate in development programs.
The ICC is yet to make a final decision on the matter. However, with the notice period deadline getting closer, the ICC is now thinking about drawing a final conclusion on the matter.
